Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus).

Females range in color from yellow (like the males) to a bluish-black. The black form is most common in areas also inhabited by the pipeline swallowtail— a butterfly with an unpleasant taste. It is assumed the black form may be an example of deceptive coloration using mimicry.

Farmed specimen. Sourced from an entomological supply company.

5” x 5” wood canvas panel.
Comes strung with picture wire for hanging.
