Apollo Metalmark Forewings
Scientific name: Lyropteryx apollonia.
Common name: Blue-rayed Metalmark, Pink Dotted Metalmark or Apollo Metalmark.
Location:
Fun Fact: This butterfly is considered rare on the planet, primarily due to its specific habitat requirements and limited distribution. Local only to rainforests at an elevation of 200–600 meters in South America: particularly Ecuador, Brazil (Acre, Amazonas, Mato Grosso), Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. All specimens I sell are always farmed for this purpose, and none are collected from the wild.
Fine Print: Insects naturally vary in color, pattern and size, and so the pair you receive may not be completely identical to the pair shown. They also may have minor damage, especially in the case of those that died of natural causes.
Care instructions: Don't leave resin sitting in a hot car with oven temperatures (we're looking at you Florida). To clean, use a glasses cloth or other soft, lint-free cloth to prevent scratching.
