A leaf insects adaptive coloration is called 'protective resemblance,' and that includes leaf-like veins and brown spots. Some individuals will even grow holes to look like an insect has chewed on them!

This species is the largest species of leaf insect on the planet, with this specimen being having an unusually turquoise hue. I tried to amplify her natural coloration using muted pastel colors.

This piece is 6" x 6", unframed. Depth is about an inch. Comes strung with picture hanging wire.
