Statira Sulphur Hindwings
Scientific name: Aphrissa statira.
Common name: Statira Sulphur.
Location: Year round in S. Texas and S. Florida. Strays up Georgia, New Mexico and Kansas. Also found Mexico to Argentina.
Fun Fact: As for its common name, we're not quite sure its origins. We're guessing the name comes from the wife/sister of Darius III of Persia, considered at the time to be the most beautiful woman in all of Asia. She became wife to Alexander the Great after Darius's defeat at the battle of Issus.
Fine Print: Insects naturally vary in color, pattern and size, and so the pair you receive may not be completely identical to the pair shown. They also may have minor damage, especially in the case of those that died of natural causes.
Care instructions: Don't leave resin sitting in a hot car with oven temperatures (we're looking at you Florida). To clean, use a glasses cloth or other soft, lint-free cloth to prevent scratching.
