Delias fasciata Hindwings
Scientific name: Delias fasciata.
Common name: As of yet unnamed type of Jezebel butterfly.
Location: Australasian realm, endemic to Sumba.
Fun Fact: As a caterpillar it feeds on plant toxins and chemicals, which makes the adult butterfly unpalatable. This butterfly freely advertises its presence through its bright yellow-and-red markings on the underside, unconcerned that it will be eaten. The protection strategy of the Jezebel is so successful, that other butterflies mimic the Jezebel’s colouration and flight pattern.
Fine Print: Insects naturally vary in color, pattern and size, and so the pair you receive may not be completely identical to the pair shown. They also may have minor damage, especially in the case of those that died of natural causes.
Care instructions: Don't leave resin sitting in a hot car with oven temperatures (we're looking at you Florida). To clean, use a glasses cloth or other soft, lint-free cloth to prevent scratching.
